The Challenge
The National Democratic Club had decades of credibility and location advantage on Capitol Hill but needed modern communications that could drive renewals, visits, and membership growth while elevating its highest-value annual event.
What We Did
ZAMA rebuilt member newsletters and campaign email into one consistent communications program and scaled event and sponsorship strategy for the Congressional Baseball after party as a membership acquisition and engagement engine.
The Results
- Membership growth supported through modernized communication programs
- Congressional Baseball after party now hosts 1,500 plus guests every June
- More than 15 sponsors at the most recent event
- Premium partners including The Macallan and a McLaren activation
- Member communications modernized from newsletters to campaign email
- Two years as the Club's communications partner, with compounding performance
Background
The National Democratic Club has served Capitol Hill since 1953. Founded by former members of the Truman administration and located at 30 Ivy Street SE, it sits within blocks of the Congressional office buildings, the Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court.
The Club had standing. It needed communications that felt current enough to attract and retain the next generation of members.
The work
This is an ongoing communications and event partnership.
Email marketing and newsletters carry the member relationship week to week. Brand and creative keep the Club’s voice consistent and current. Event strategy shapes the annual after party, including the sponsorship program that funds it and sets its tone. The full program is measured against membership and renewals.
The After Party
What began as an event at the Club has become the after party for the Congressional Baseball Game, drawing over 1,500 guests to Capitol Hill each June and closing Ivy Street to do it.
The most recent edition included more than 15 sponsors, including The Macallan and a McLaren activation on site. That sponsor quality reflects the broader result: the Club has become a room people want to be seen in.
